PrinciplesPerformance domains

The course covers project management principles, techniques and tools, methodologies, hard (science) and soft (art) aspects, using a step-by-step ''methodology'' to lead teams and deliver successful projects. Courseware includes definitions, checklists, examples, templates, videos and webinars. Participants apply project management tools and techniques to current or planned projects.


The BSB40920 - Certificate IV in Project Management Practice course is based upon / consistent with:

  • A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) 6th & 7th Edition
  • AIPM Competency Standards for Project Management – Certified Practising Project Practitioner (CPPP)
  • ISO 21500 Project Management

Qualification Description  

This qualification is suitable for autonomous individuals who identify and apply project management skills and knowledge in a wide variety of contexts. Job titles for these roles may include project officer, contracts officers, project administrators, quality officers and small business operators.

Individuals in these roles might be members of a project team, with no direct responsibility for overall project outcomes. Primarily, these roles would support wider project operations. They may use project tools and methodologies selectively to support organisational or business activities.

Assessment and Award Options

The course includes progressive assessment / assessment upon completion – upon satisfying criteria candidates are awarded BSB40920 Certificate IV in Project Management Practice.

On completion of the  course delegates are eligible to apply for AIPM’s RegPM Certification at Certified Practicing Project Practitioner (CPPP) level when applying for Associate Membership.

The Assessment Process

Completing activities which include filling out templates for a project from start to finish. Workplace templates/deliverables may also be used for evidence (or a combination of both). AGS provides examples and checklists. Delegates may work on case studies or real workplace projects, in teams or on their own. 

Completion of an Assessment Record Book (ARB), primarily answering knowledge and understanding questions (no exam!).   

Course Outcomes

On finishing this course, participants should be able to contribute to the definition, planning, implementation, control and successful completion of projects or project manage simple projects from start to finish.
